Making a difference makes all the difference.
Once in a while, we get bogged down in a situation, relationship (of any type) or business assignment.
Yet, often we don’t do what needs to be done in order to improve things – probably through a combination of:
- Fear of the unknown.
- Fear of upsetting our collaborators or partner
- Inertia – thinking if we keep plugging away, things will improve
Often apathy sets in. We lose focus. We lose the sense that we are making a contribution.
If we ask ourselves: “which switch can I flick to start making a difference again?” We can:
- Remain dedicated to the cause.
- Remain curious. Find the truth, the interesting or a more efficient way of doing things.
- Communicate openly, effectively and efficiently with others. Share knowledge.
Individuals that make a difference comprehend the importance of human connections, engagement, and relationships. Perhaps most admirable is that some people will push beyond any perceived limitations (shyness, laziness, etc.) to make these connections.
As a result, others get to learn from their knowledge and talents. Many counsellors, social workers, and teachers had to get out of their “comfort zone” before being able to pursue their passion: helping people.
Just by sensing that “something is up” and something isn’t quite right, we can straighten things out through dedication, curiosity, communication and sharing.
Thank you for reading.
Flick that switch, if you need to and enjoy your day!
