Push our emotional, psychological and intellectual buttons, please.
We are all wired the same way now, as we were a year ago: a decade ago: a century ago.
When we are trying to figure out how to promote what we do and our range of products and services, the temptation might be to do things differently and ignore the basics. However:
- Communicating at an emotional level with our people is good.
- Telling a story is good.
- Finding out where your potential customers spend their time is good too.
Here are three classic quotes from David Ogilvy which, I believe, have stood the test of time and will continue to serve us long into the future.
“Tell the truth but make the truth fascinating. You know you can’t bore people into buying you product, you can only interest them into buying it”
“The more story-appeal there is in the picture or in the photograph, the more people would look at your ad”
“Consumers still buy products whose advertising promises them value for money, beauty, nutrition, relief from suffering, social status and so on. All over the world.”
Amazing pearls of wisdom.
