The most powerful person in any organisation isn’t always the one with the fanciest title. It’s often the receptionist, the executive assistant, or the office manager – some of the people who truly keep things moving.
I’ve made it a practice to treat everyone I interact with professionally with the same level of respect and genuine interest, regardless of their role. Not because it’s strategic (though it is), but because it’s right.
What I’ve discovered is fascinating: this approach doesn’t just build better relationships – it actually opens doors. Quite literally. When you genuinely respect and value everyone you encounter in business, you’ll find more decision-makers willing to take your call.
It’s not about manipulation or strategy. It’s about recognising a simple truth: every person deserves to be treated with dignity, and every role in an organisation matters.
This approach has not only improved my business approaches but has made my work more meaningful and enjoyable. After all, success in business isn’t just about what you achieve – it’s about how you achieve it.
